Thanksgiving 2016

Since it’s Thanksgiving, we wanted to take a moment and give gratitude for the opportunity to affect all the lives we’ve been able to in the last few years. Our mission has grown so much in Tijuana. It makes us so proud to see the community just across our border get more and more access to chiropractic care. When we first began going down to Tijuana, we traveled to different locations in order to see people and spread the word about our work. However, at this point in time, we can set up in a farmer’s market in the middle of town and see hundreds of people in a morning! Most people we checked and adjusted had never received chiropractic care in their lives. Now, at this point, we commonly see people who return each time we’re in Tijuana to get checked and adjusted. Not only that, but they’ve begun to bring their entire families to get the positive effects of chiropractic as well. If the next years are anything like the first two, we are set for more massive growth! We’re thankful for the opportunity to serve and bring this wonderful service to those who couldn’t otherwise afford...

Why Chiropractic

With so many different health professionals to be found in today’s landscape, why would someone choose to specifically see a chiropractor? Especially, if you’re not suffering from low-back pain or neck pain? Actually, chiropractic has very little to do with low-back pain, or neck pain. It doesn’t mean that chiropractic can’t help those conditions, because it absolutely can. However, chiropractic does a whole lot more for our bodies than just get somebody out of pain. Chiropractic restores proper communication between the brain and the cells of the body. If there is interference between the brain and the intestines for example, someone might feel constipated or experience diarrhea. When the interference is removed through a chiropractic adjustment, the body begins to function better and the constipation or diarrhea goes away. Part of the problem is the spine is located in your neck and back. Therefore, people think of chiropractors as “back doctors”. Honestly, if our spines were located in our arms, we would be known as “arm doctors”. The truth is chiropractors are doctors of the Nervous System. It doesn’t matter what’s happening to the body; pain, headaches, digestive problems, breathing trouble, etc. Once the interference in the nervous system is cleared, the body begins to function better and symptoms improve for the better. Stay healthy my...

Abundance or Scarcity

People differ in how they view the world and what happens to them. There’s two main perspectives people choose to operate from: abundance or scarcity. Abundance is a mindset where there’s no shortage in the world. People with this perspective often think there will always be enough money to go around(Fact: if you were to divide all the money up between every human in the world, everyone would be a millionaire). There will always be enough food. There will always be enough love, laughter, and happiness. A scarcity viewpoint is the opposite. These people usually think there isn’t enough money, so I need to hoard what I have. There isn’t enough food so I need to grab it all while I can. Resources are a finite amount, and if I don’t get what I can now, I risk not being able to survive. Both perspectives warrant consideration and could be found to be true. At Hands For Life, we choose to operate out of a sense of abundance. Without this viewpoint, we would not be able to give of our time, energy, and resources the way we need to in order to help the people we have sought out to help. We want to know, which perspective do you operate...

Digestion

Our bodies are simply amazing organisms. Digestion is one process that doesn’t get the proper appreciation that it deserves. We can eat all kinds of different foods and our body knows exactly what to do with the nutrients. Consciously, we don’t even have to pay attention to what’s happening. In fact, think about the last time you ate food and had to mentally tell your stomach to secrete hydrochloric acid, or your pancreas to secrete insulin to let the sugar into the cells. Your answer is almost certainly, never. That’s because of the master control system in our bodies called, the nervous system. It controls and runs everything. Not one cell is left un-touched. When talking about our digestive system, it’s mostly under what we call the Autonomic Nervous System. Which basically means it’s subconsciously controlled. We don’t have to pay attention to it. Our bodies are so intelligent, that they simply carry out the tasks. This entire process is ready and good to go from birth, just like everything else in our body. It’s hard to ignore the amazing intelligence in our universe when you begin to look at our own...
